It feels like everyone is on the look out for the best lockdown beauty recommendations at the moment. My Instagram DMs and WhatsApp groups have been filled with requests for my favourite beauty products, and my friends and I have all noticed that our skin just seems a little unsettled… much like the rest of the world I suppose. In current circumstances, a beauty purchase feels somewhat comforting, restorative, and a little bit of a treat, without being too overindulgent. I’ve put together some of my favourite beauty buys that are brightening up my lockdown days. Some are old favourites and some are relatively new discoveries, but all of them are top recommendations that I’ve shared with my best friends, and now with you!

Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Bergamot Shower Gel

I’m a one fragrance kind of girl. I love to have a signature scent and mine is Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Bergamot Calabria. The perfume is just divine but the scented shower gel feels like a real treat. I use it every day and I like to take a moment to rub it between my hands and breathe in the fragrance each morning. It may sound a bit much but it’s such a beautiful bright fragrance that feels like a small luxury.
Moroccanoil Mending Infusion

One of missions for lockdown is to sort out my hair… This started with a haircut at Stephie’s Salon. Yep, I cut it myself… and it went surprisingly well! Now that I have fresh, neat ends, I’m keeping them in check with Moroccanoil Mending Infusion. It seems to be doing the trick and I just love the fragrance. It reminds me of when Carl and I started dating because he always used to slick a little of the original Moroccanoil through his hair in the morning.
L’Occitane Milk Concentrate Body Lotion

My skin just feels so dehydrated at the moment so I’m slathering this L’Occitance Milk Concentrate Body Lotion on and I love it. I’ve used it on and off for a couple of years but I always come back to it because it just feels so moisturising without being heavy or sticky.
Tan Luxe The Body and Super Glow

Having a little bit of a tan just always makes my face look a little bit more alive, particularly as I’m wearing less makeup during lockdown, but for years now I’ve avoided getting my face in the sun (I always wear sunscreen and a big hat). Tan Luxe is my favourite self tan brand. I LOVE The Body self tan drops, which allow you to customise your tan colour by adding your preferred number of drops in to your moisturiser, and I use that one on my face too as it gives a lovely colour but if you want a more hydrating face tan try Tan Luxe Super Glow. It’s a gradual self tan serum with hyaluronic acid for added hydration, so you never have that post-tanning tight skin feel.
SkinCeuticals HA Intensifier

Like many people, my skin has felt really dry and dehydrated during lockdown so I’ve been boosting my hydration levels by drinking lots of water and applying SkinCeutical H.A. Intensifier every day. I feel like everyone who uses SkinCeuticals is such a convert because the products just work.
Glossier Brow Flick

Glossier is the ultimate cult brand. Everyone seems to have at least one product in their makeup bag and mine is Brow Flick. I find that it’s just the easiest way to build up brows whilst still looking super natural. I use shade brown but it also comes in blonde and black
Eve Lom Kiss Mix

I LOVE Eve Lom. Their cleanser is iconic – the original hot cloth cleanser – and their lip balm, Kiss Mix is keeping my lips soft and smooth at the moment. I love the texture and the tingly fresh mintyness. Is that even a word…?
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Night Cream

I worship at the church of Charlotte Tilbury and I’m a complete convert to her makeup but I feel like some of her skincare is a little overlooked. Magic Night Cream is my go-to night cream when my skin feels dry, tired, lacklustre or just a little unhappy. I have to admit, it is a slightly unusual texture… it’s almost like a slippery pale pink balm, but it really is magic! After I started using it my best friend asked me if I’d had Botox… I hadn’t (and haven’t) but I think that’s pretty telling! I’ve recommended it to all my friends and although it’s a bit of an investment, I honestly think it’s SO worth it. A little goes a long way so it really does last!
Alpha H Liquid Gold

I only discovered this product during lockdown but I think it’s amazing! Alpha H Liquid Gold is an overnight treatment with cell stimulating and exfoliating alpha hydroxy acids and by lowering the skin’s pH it stimulates cellular activity and accelerates the skin’s repair and renewal processes. It also encourages the synthesis of elastin and collagen, eradicates spot-causing bacteria and the resurfacing action helps reduce scars and dark spots…! I use it every few nights and you apply it on a cotton wool pad almost like a toner. It feels slightly tingly but not uncomfortable and my skin just looks brighter and smoother when I wake up and the little smile lines around eyes are less visible. If I could only recommend two products it would be this and Charlotte Tilbury Magic Night Cream.
