This year, like many, we spent Christmas up in the Lake District, and after a couple of grey, rainy days, the clouds finally lifted just a little and lit up Lake Windermere. I’ve spent time in the Lake District since I was tiny but even after all these years the views still amaze me. The house is high up on a hill, overlooking Lake Windermere from one end to the other, and the view really is ever-changing… Sometimes we sit above the clouds and can’t even see the lake below and on other days it looks like a painting with bracken covered hills, shimmering sunlight, and snow topping the mountains in the distance.

For lunch on Boxing Day I wanted to dress up, but still be somewhat country-weather-appropriate. I wore this beautiful black satin maxi dress (which would be a super glam New Year’s Eve option) with one of my favourite Amanda Wakeley cashmere knits. I love this kind of look – glam, cosy and elegant all at once, but made a little more edgy with a studded flat boots. The jacket is a beautiful khaki brushed cotton style that I’ve been wearing constantly from Troy London – a relatively new brand which has some of the best in city-to-country dressing (think fur trimmed parkas, oversized boyfriend knits and suede gilets), and it’s actually currently in their sale so I would definitely recommend taking a look! To style it up a little I wore this suede khaki baker boy hat, also from Troy London, and some oversized gold hoop earrings. I’m loving hoops at the moment – from my everyday Maria Tash diamond huggies, to brash 80s styles and thick neat hoops – they just seem to make an outfit. The boots are from PROF, a fab Portuguese brand that I just recently discovered, and I’m in love with them! They’re super comfortable, and neat, with just the right amount of sass thanks to the studded sole, and they look great with dresses, jeans… just about anything. I’m letting you in on a little secret by telling you about PROF, because they’re an absolute find! Well priced, well made (Portugal is renowned for it’s impeccable shoemaking) and just really good styles. These are another favourite that will be great for trips to the mountains and I love these! Now I’m off to sunnier climes, but the boots are still coming with me!

Anyway, enough about me and my outfit… how was your Christmas?
