Memo:
With our recent whirlwind of travels, Mykonos seems like a million miles away, but I couldn’t move on until I told you about the MOST beautiful, delicious, romantic, fun restaurant that you just have to try if you’re visiting the island. Prior to our trip I’d been invited to visit the new Minas store in Knightsbridge and Arion, the son of the famed jewellery designer, talked me through what is a stunning collection of organically designed pieces. Minas and Arion originally hail from Mykonos so when I mentioned my upcoming trip I got the insider’s guide to this beautiful island. Top of the list was Spilia, so we made our reservation for Sunday lunch and set off in search of this little waterfront restaurant in my Neve and Noor Sunday best. We arrived to the beach and were instructed to walk past the first restaurant, over a plank, across the rocks and down the steps to the restaurant… Feeling somewhat unsure we set off but what we found was simply breathtaking. After crossing the rocks we dropped down into the prettiest restaurant, cut out into a cliffside and sitting right on the water’s edge. Long wooden tables are filled with wine glasses and fresh flowers, just waiting for the guests to arrive to start the most magical long lunches. We took pride of place at a table just centimetres from the sea and quickly filled our table with sea bass carpaccio, Myconian salad, mussels and the infamous lobster spaghetti, with some ice cold local white wine. Feeling very full and very relaxed, we set off back to the airport. It was the perfect last day in Mykonos and a place we’ll remember for a long time to come so please let me know if you manage to try it and tag me in your Instagram snaps so I can relive it vicariously!
