After two weeks in beautiful Barbados, our return to England was a little frosty! There was only one thing for it – snuggling up in toasty fair isle knits, long socks and cosy Butterfly Twists boots by a blazing fire. For as long as I’ve known, we’ve had a place up in the Lake District. The “barn” used to belong to my grandparents but many years ago, Daddy bought it from them and my parents transformed it into this cosy welcome retreat from all things hectic. From icy cold water and bar heaters to bedroom suites, under floor heating and a helipad… It’s no longer grim up north! On a grey day, the clouds will part and the sun comes streaming through over Lake Windermere. The views are magnificent and my parents have done a wonderful job of creating a beautiful modern house in the most tasteful and authentic style.
