Memo:
After spending the night in Lisbon it was time to head up to the hills of Sintra, just a short drive away. Having been in the modern surrounds of the Altis Belém Hotel & Spa in Lisbon, we were transported back in time to cobbled streets, quaint arches and alleyways, palaces, castles and the most magnificent views. Sintra is a pretty little village and the palaces and castles up in the hills are spectacular, although be warned, it does get a little overrun with a tourists at times. After a wander around the village and an amazing, but exhausting, visit up the hills to the Castelo dos Mouros and the Palácio Nacional da Pena, we escaped and headed up to the Tivoli Palacio de Seteais. A stunning traditional hotel set on the hill with a view out across the hills to Lisbon, Cascais and beyond, it’s a truly magical setting.
