After a whole week in Ibiza it was time to travel on to Portugal – a country that I’ve never managed to get to before. We landed in Lisbon early in the morning and got ourselves over to the beautifully modern Altis Belém Hotel & Spa. They quickly escorted us to a lovely breakfast before showing us to a stunning suite where we quickly lay down for a nap. After snoozle time we were just about ready to take on a little tour of the area. Now we’ve never been known to be culture vultures, but Belém is a beautiful area just to the west of Lisbon and it’s packed with sights. It sits right on the Tagus River, so although it was bright blue sky and boiling hot, there’s a constant cooling breeze. We managed to make it to the Belém Tower, Jerónimos Monastery and the Padrão dos Descobrimentos for a fantastic view of the surrounding area, before it was time to retreat to the hotel rooftop for more sunbathing and a dip in the pool.
