I’m getting a little ahead of myself as I still have a thousand and one photos to look at from Barbados but this weekend we were back at the airport heading off for a little winter sun to celebrate Carl’s mother’s birthday. I always like to visit at least one new place every year and with this trip I managed to tick it off the list in January! Carl’s parents very kindly wanted to take us all away for a celebratory trip and after getting a couple of short haul winter sun recommendations they settled on Gran Canaria. Carl and I landed on Thursday night and headed straight for some tapas – jamón ibérico, gambas al ajillo, croquetas and tuna tartare with a delicious bottle of 12 Volts red wine from Mallorca – at the clifftop 222ºSW restaurant and took in the view of the sparkling lights around the bay. I was so excited to see the place in daylight and we weren’t disappointed when we woke up early the next morning in our gorgeous room to a view of palm trees and sunshine with the sound of the waves rolling in. I quickly threw on this super flattering scuba bikini from the queen of swimwear, some new mirrored sunnies, my trusty fedora that travels the world with me, and the perfect “greek” sandals (super comfortable and a beautiful colour that seems to go with everything) and hot footed it to the balcony to soak up some rays before breakfast. Utterly relaxed and very content to be back in the warmth of the sun (in January no less!), we decided it was time to explore this stunning rugged island…
With all my travels I’m pretty religious about wearing suncream and I’m loving Nuxe’s range of creams and sprays. They’re easily absorbed, provide varying levels of protection and smell delicious. I’m also hooked on their cult Huile Prodigieuse which I use as a nourishing treat for dry hair as well as slathering it on my skin in the evenings for glowing legs and shoulders. My other hero product (which I seem to include in every beauty post and gift guide because it’s just that good) is Body Blur by Vita Liberata. I can’t get over this desert island must have product which gives a beautiful golden glow and blurs imperfections.
