Memo:
Us lucky bunnies are out in Barbados for New Year (yippee!) and after a rather heavy first night we decided to head down to Paynes Bay to pick up some oh so fresh fish from the beachside market. The catch of the day has literally just come in off the boat and the ladies behind the counter skilfully slice up the most incredible fish - local flying fish, tuna and our picks of the day: barracuda and mahi mahi. We quickly made friends with a local friendly face who gave us some very good advice: always make time for each other, and his wise words: "you can’t take your money with you so just spend it” should lead to some excellent New Year’s resolutions. We headed back to the villa and handed over our purchases to our fantastic chef Paul, who worked his magic with herbs and spices before serving the most delicious blackened mahi mahi with a super fresh salad and icy cold rosé. A very nice end to  2014.

As the last post of 2014, I want to wish everyone who reads The Style Memo a very happy New Year! I am SO touched and grateful for all the support I have received this year and I can’t wait for more fun and games in 2015!

Memo:
Today is my birthday (yippee!) so on Sunday we all got together for a festive birthday brunch. We took over the beautiful private room at Tartufo, a fab little find, tucked away under No.11 Cadogan Gardens. We started with champagne and bloody marys, to soften a couple of sore heads, whilst my beautiful, and ever so thoughtful, friends piled in laden with gifts. Friends from back home that I've grown up with and known forever, friends that I've met on my travels in recent years in London, and together, we giggled and gobbled our way through lunch. Each and every one of them holds a special place in my heart, along with too many special, hilarious and magical memories to mention. This time last year a special someone told me he had a feeling that 2014 was going to be a very good year and he couldn't have been more right, so thank you all for helping me celebrate another wonderful year!

Self Portrait

Location:
Quaglino's, Bury Street, London

Style:
Self Portrait mesh tuxedo dress: style and steal
Christian Louboutin black suede ankle boots: style and steal

Memo:
I’m still having a major style crush on Self Portrait. They have the most perfect dresses - interesting fabrics, flattering styles and some incredible fabric cutting, all at a pretty fantastic price point. I wore this tuxedo dress for dinner with the familia at Quaglino’s last night and couldn’t help being resolutely monochrome against this trippy background. Once again, the food was fantastic - perfectly smoked salmon, tender chicken with truffle and the standout dessert: a giant choux à la crème with the naughtiest bitter chocolate sauce… yum!

Rosewood London

Location:
Rosewood London, High Holborn, London

Style:
ASOS beige wool cocoon coat: style and steal
Self Portrait black guipure lace strapless dress: style and steal
Giuseppe Zanotti leopard print calf hair heels: style and steal
ASOS black sunglasses: style and steal

Memo:
At the weekend we made our way over to the the beautiful new Rosewood London. High Holborn might not be our usual stomping ground but after attending a stunning party in the Ballroom of the hotel the week before, I was determined to go back and explore. You enter the hotel through a decorative stone archway which leads to an imposing courtyard with beautifully carved stonework towering above. The hotel reception is all copper and glass, and every surface is piled high with the most dreamy books, candles and flowers. I don’t think I’ve been so impressed by a London hotel for a long time. Each room leads to another, even more beautiful than the last - a secret lounge for whiling away the afternoon, a hidden dining room for a decadent supper, and a dark and seductive bar with an enticing cocktail list… I literally want to move in, and luckily, those cheeky chappie doormen didn’t seem to mind me nosying around in this fab Self Portrait dress and my favourite oversized coat.
